And not like, TMNT meets The Harlem Globetrotters or something, it's TMNT 2003 meets TMNT from the 80s!

Apparently they're erasing all evidence of this thing's existence, wonder if it's been shelved?

AAAND Ironically, I got an email from Fathom today apparently stating due to "unforseen circumstances" the even will not be shown Don't rag on Nickelodeon until the shows aired Avatar The Last Airbender was surprisingly great and mature for a childrens show.

Ask Rocko how he's doing the next time you see him. Or Pete and Pete. Or Clarissa Darling. Or Donkey Lips.
That's right, you can't ask them how they're doing because Nickelodeon is keeping their rotting corpses locked in a broom closet. Mark my words, this will be the end of the TMNT. They'll give it a good run, but when they're bored with it, to the vault along with You Can't Do That On Television.

This will definitely spell the end for the comics. Which REALLY sucks, because I still read them. We also probably won't be seeing a true comic based film or animated series.
If there's ANY positive to this at all, it's probably that the old cartoon characters, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady and all those wacky mutants might return. Which is perfectly okay by me, though I love the Mirage comics I would love to see the return of Dimension X and the Technodrome.
Worst case scenario (and most likely): the CG animation will blow, they'll mess around too much with the characters, dumb down Mikey even more, introduce their own characters and it will eventually run its course and jump the shark like the other cartoons, and Nickelodeon will lock it away like all decent franchises they ever had.

It bothers me that Peter Laird went through such great lengths over recent years to protect the integrity of the franchise, keeping it close to the roots of the comics, keeping the comics going, and staying independent. It's clear that he just doesn't care anymore, and sold it as soon as he saw $60 million flashed in his face. This explains the recent downturn of the comics, the shitty Flash Forward series, the lame CGI movie and merchandising bonanza he once pretended to be opposed to. He just doesn't care anymore. At least he could have hocked it to Warner Bros. or Disney. Has he any idea what Nickelodeon is capable of? John Kricfalusi and Joe Murray are somewhere laughing right now. Kevin Eastman is crying in his bathtub with bloody wrists and a toaster.

Apparently Nickelodeon "wants to focus on the '80s toon Turtles" and they're trying to obtain the rights to the original cartoon.
Personally I would LOVE to see Krang and company return, but I dunno.

I thought TNM was awesome. Though I haven't seen it since it aired. The Power Rangers crossover was fun, though completely awkward.
I wonder if Nick buying TMNT was a direct result of Disney bringing back MMPR...

I just watched that second video, that is ridiculous. The Fred Wolf Turtles weren't THAT wacky. This is just Peter one last time making a mockery of my beloved cartoon Turtles because he is jealous that they were more popular than his DARK AND GRITTY RAWR Turtles. This is just like that direct-to-video Alvin and the Chipmunks special where they meet the original Chipmunks. I love when shows have self-referential humor.

It's adorable and you know it They have to speak in hyperbole, the show was fucking wacky and zany, and so is the new one, but the parody 80s Turtles is actually a really good parody of every other super team cartoon from the time frame.

The 2K3 Turtles ended up being even wackier than the originals. Unfortunately, I've seen Fast Forward. And "lets kick shell!"?? What the fuck does that even mean? They're going to beat up each other?

You know my biggest beef with that clip, is that the voice acting is off on the 80's Turtles. Sure, Mikey sounds fine, but he's the easiest to imitate. Leo just doesn't sound right. God, I'm a nerd.

Leonardo sounds like an even bigger douche, if that was possible.
So now that TMNT is property of Nick, could this mean Rob Paulsen will come back to voice Raphael? He does a lot of va for Nick.

Did anyone catch Turtles Forever this morning? Just... wow. I almost cried when the comic Turtles came on. Seeing them in animation for the first time and hearing their voices was just, wow. Now I'm even more sad that we'll never see the Mirage Turtles in a series or film. Sigh, this was a fitting ending I guess. Goodnight, my sweet green princes.

I just got done watching it on youtube, and it was pretty awesome. Seeing the comic Turtles fight along side the animated turtles, and seeing them acknowledge the other turtle universes was a total geek out moment for me.

Holy crapolla. I just picked up at the comic store the 25th Anniversary reprinting of TMNT Issue 1 and it's totally colored. And not in a crappy way either, it's really well done.

Turtles Forever should be required viewing for those who think that the 80's cartoon was the original canon, and that the turtles were originally light and funny.
I was disappointed about the union-stuff preventing the '87 voice cast from reprising their roles (especially Yakko Warner and Uncle Phil), but my love for Dan "Yugi" Green prevented me from completely hating his take on '87 Leo. Also, Shadow the Hedgehog as Mirage Leo? Awsm.
