I hate accidently scraping a police car only for them to give chase and have you lose your focus on who your going after.
Gah, bad times.

I think my "Look into Hyperbole" on the main page about the GTAIV reviews is one of the better things I've written. I'm sure nobody read it

$100 says they're going to rehash Vice City yet again for the next one. Which I wouldn't mind, as long as it's set in the 80s and has a rad soundtrack.

It's not terrible... it's just incredibly mediocre.

GTA will always be GTA. They have grandiose ideas for the series, and they start with them. Then it just travels down the same boring path it's gone down since the original top down game. There's no amount of "living city" that can change the fact that by the end of the day, it's still the same game it's always been with a story that doesn't matter since it consists of the same thing time and again.

I was tired of the series when it hit 3-D. The only reason I liked Vice City was due to the voice acting and theme.
I just didn't have fun with GTA4. =/

I thought GTA III was fun and something different. Vice City was a huge improvement on that and San Andreas was even better (gameplay wise, I didn't like the ghetto theme). I really thought San Andreas lived up to all the hype, but then you go to something like GTA IV... they've taken everything out that San Andreas brought to the series, the sim aspects of your character, customization of cars, etc. San Andreas felt more like a sequel than GTA IV does. GTA IV feels like something in between III and Vice (not taking graphics and stuff into account). It feels like just another spinoff. I was hoping for a true reinvention.

That's a good synopsis of GTA4, Alex. It does feel like a spin-off. And J.J., I liked the 2-D GTA games. That actually interests me.

Am I doing it wrong, or are the controls broken? I've never played a game with more awkward aiming in my life. I MUCH prefer the aiming in the last three games, despite even that being horrible, at least it worked.

If it wasn't for free-play online mode I would probably never have touched the game after the one time I beat it.

I don't think I'll ever beat all the missions. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great game, in theory. It's fun to drive around and explore the city. Everything feels so alive and that's great. It's just that the mission structure is exactly the fucking same as it was in GTA III.

They should've named this game Grand Theft Auto: Sweet Valley High. I don't play Grand Theft Auto to talk about boys on the phone.

On foot controls are terrible I feel. The driving is really tight though. I only like GTA4's driving controls from the first-person perspective. Otherwise, I feel it's pretty bad. It's easier to drive in the third-person perspective in Bad Company than it is GTA4.

I'm adaptable. They aren't all loose like an arcade racer, but they aren't tight enough to be a sim, they are different than pretty much any other driving physics out there, which is why I'm not surprised people have a hard time with them. Walking on the other hand is like walking in a Resident Evil game, but at least Resident Evil had an excuse given the presentation of the camera...
