Both Target and Walmart are selling the 3DS at the price drop price now. So jump on it if you can, since it gets you access to the 20 free games, which you won't get if you wait until after the official price drop start date.

I'll love having 10 NES games on the go at all times, but I'm most excited about the GBA games. Metroid Fusion, ALL THE TIME.

I'm debating whether or not I should take advantage of this tomorrow... I'm gonna end up with one of these anyway because Super Mario 3D Land is the equivalent of Nintendo putting a gun to my head.

You just want to play Star Fox 64, Ocarina, and a 3D Tanooki Mario in the bathtub. And you might as well grab that Super Mario 64 DS out of storage, since it plays WAY better now.

Nintendo Power said Super Mario 3D was like Super Mario Bros. 3 meets Super Mario 64.

Okay, I'm now the owner of a Virtual Boy 2 for some reason. Got the cosmo black and Zelda. I wanted to get Pilotwings too just because, but I may wait until I can get it cheaper. Right now it's sitting in its little charging cradle... taunting me. I hope I will actually be able to use the 3D without having a seizure. It's a sexy piece of gadget ass. One thing that worries me though, my top screen is a little loose and floppy, reminds me of my DS Titanus, it isn't as tight as my Lite - is this normal?
So, if I visit the eShop before tomorrow I will get my free shit whenever Nintendo decides to send it out? You'd better not screw me out of my free shit Nintendo. I'm an early adopter. You owe me free shit.
Super detailed review coming later. That is, if my brain doesn't explode from joy/epilepsy.

You gotta log on to the eShop TONIGHT. And you get NES games on the 1st and GBA games by the end of the year.
The 3D really bugged my eyes when I first used it, but I'm cool with it now. Might I suggest grabbing the Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions game if you see it on sale. You'll LOVE IT. It even has Pac-Man Championship Edition.

It's official: my eyes are broken. I started up the system and saw the 3D effect for the first time. My eyes completely lost focus and I became disoriented. It immediately reminded me of those goddamn Magic Eye books. It did nothing for me. It's definitely going to take some getting used to and playing around with the slider before I know if this is working for me or not. I can't see anything when the slider is turned all the way up. The effect is neat, but not quite as awesome as the ridiculous hype from last year's E3 suggested. I was almost expecting Mario to literally jump out of the screen and take a giant shit in my face. AR Games blew. my. mind. It was the first time in fifteen years that I experienced that Super Mario 64 moment; that precise point in space and time that you will never forget, and always remember that you realized, "holy shit this is the future." I know this stuff has been around a while, and for now it's only a novelty, but I see a serious future for augmented reality games. I know I said that about full motion video, but I really believe it. We are THIS close to holograms. Then I played Face Raiders. According to my 3DS, I'm a girl.

When I first started playing, my brain shit itself. I refused to allow the 3D effect to enter my world. It's second nature now.

The circle pad is terrible. I popped in Zelda and it is just not as precise as an analog stick. It works, and it's much better than that stupid wrist strap thumb pad thing you had to use with Mario 64, but you have to be extra careful when crossing narrow passages like the bridge in Kokiri Forest. Maybe it just takes some getting used to. I started on the Deku Tree and I'm definitely missing the analog stick right now.
The buttons feel great. The d-pad is nice and tight, not like my Lite which was really imprecise. I could see the retractable stylus loosening over time and becoming a problem, but that's easily replaceable. Still worried about the top screen, it feels really heavy and the hinge will definitely loosen over time.
Battery life is god awful. I was just messing around in the menus for only an hour and it looks like I'm gonna need to charge it again soon. This is so unlike Nintendo. The Nintendo of the '90s would have NEVER let this thing out of the door.
I'm happy with the cosmo black color. I would have waited for red, but I feel like the black immerses me into the 3D more; a bright color would probably distract me and take away from the experience unless I was playing in pitch black darkness.
The 3D in Zelda is fantastic! It felt like the fairies in Kokiri Forest were flying right into my face and I swear to god one flew into my eye!
I found the menus to be really jumbled and difficult to navigate. Kinda wish they had just copied the Wii's menu verbatim. The eShop is great. I got a little misty-eyed looking through the old Game Boy games, no doubt I will end up buying them all. But first up I'm totally getting Super Mario Land. Most underrated game in the series (I honestly think it's better than the original SMB).

You can modify the look of the menu. The way I have it right now looks very Wii like, with several rows and levels of blocks.
My battery isn't that bad. It's not great, that's for sure, but I get a good 5 or 6 hours out of mine.

The battery is not a huge problem for me, it's not like I'm gonna be taking this thing on 12 hour car rides. The brightness was on maximum, along with the volume and 3D and I had been playing AR Games so I assume that's why I was missing a few bars.

Have you played a regular DS game on it yet? The 3D screen kind of muddies the visuals. It's weird.

Not yet and I don't really plan on using it for DS games anyway. I'm keeping my Lite. Too many memories. :')

It sounds like Nintendo isn't planning on doing any GBA games other than the ambassador games. I'm sure that will change. That's Nintendos way. I'm a little bummed that they are just giving up on the 3D Classics though. Excitebike 3D and Xevious 3D are super rad. It sounds like Urban Champion 3D will probably be the last one.

JJ, did you have any issues plugging in headphones for the first time? I finally got them plugged in but at first I didn't think it was going to take them. I hate that the jack is located in the center. It's better for playing games obviously but it would be awkward using it as an audio player. I know it's not an iPod but it would be nice if I didn't have to carry so many devices in my purse man bag.

It's not a smooth connection, that headphone jack. My 3DS games. I can personally vouch for each one and say they are all good games.
