PS3 or 360? I'm gettin one probably by August or as soon as Saturday, and I need to know which one I should buy. The blu-ray of the PS3 is a big selling point to me as is Metal Gear Solid 4 but there seems to be a lot better online stuff on the 360 to which I could play with Chase and JJ on it...
So guys, which one is more recommended?

Well, coming from a guy that has all three current generation consoles, you really can't make a poor decision on either end. The GOOD PS3 is getting a price drop to 400 bucks, which might mean that's going to be the one you should choose. The 360 has a far better community, and the Marketplace is astounding. But really, the two are almost interchangeable.

Actually Steve I'm in the same boat as you. There's no way I'll be able to get both anytime soon, right now I'm leaning towards PS3.

If you're someone like me who only dabbles in online gaming, the PS3 is the horse to back. 360 has the better online store with some awesome games (TMNT Arcade and Pac-Man:CE for example), but for disc games, really, they're the same. Except Sony has LittleBigPlanet.

Personally, my PS3, other than Metal Gear and Uncharted collects dust. Just pure game-wise, I definitely say the 360. If you are stuck on getting a Blu-Ray player, then do the PS3.

Yeah, but like me, you own both. And like me, you're more inclined to buy the games on the 360. There are next to no exclusive titles between the two. With the exception of 2 games I own, everything I have is available on both platforms.

I wish that online play was bi-system somehow.

I am in the same boat with Ross. If you want a Blu-Ray player and don't want to pay for online play, then buy a PS3. If you have people to play with online and don't care about Blu-Ray, then buy a 360. Of course, this is a heavily-simplified synopsis. A good way to determine your preference is to consider the following: controller design, presently exclusive titles, added cost to set-up the ideal gaming situation, and future titles. The way I see things: + Sony has better quality arcade games, Blu-Ray, better d-pad, and free online play. + Microsoft has a bigger library and far superior online service. You may want to review the E3 thread to get a good idea of what's to come for both consoles. + Microsoft will further develop community and online goodies. + Sony will try to finally get their online service properly working. If it weren't for Microsoft's abhorrent hardware negligence (see: RROD), they'd be the unanimous winner this generation. I will need to buy a PS3 for SOCOM and, eventually, MAG; possibly DC Universe Online (which I think will interest you, Stevens). But even when I do, I know I will still find myself more centered around my 360. Knowing you, Stevens, I think you'd more enjoy the PS3. It has Blu-Ray and is presently the only system to feature Metal Gear Solid 4*. Plus, you don't dig online play. And hey, if you get SOCOM, you can team up with myself and my pals. *It will be ported to the 360. Major Nelson's "disc install" announcement wasn't just a nifty, little feature to sell the new 60 GB 360.

Konami would have to rework MGS4 to put it on the 360 quite a bit, considering there cheap shots at the 360 and actual Sony hardware making an appearance. I don't know if they'd be so happy having Apple plastered all over the fucking place either.
