So, I almost killed myself tonight.
My nose started to bleed. So, with a tissue stopping it from pouring out, and by swallowing some of the blood (gross, I know), I soldiered on playing Call of Duty 4 with my pals. I sipped some water. While in the lobby, I laughed at something funny. Suddenly, my laugh became a violent cough. I couldn't breathe.
For some reason, I muted my wireless mic; tossed my wireless controller, stumbled around the room, and turned to my brother. I tried and could not breathe. Holding my throat, and, for some damn reason, trying to mime dialing 911, I could not force a breath into my lungs.
I was terrified. Quickly, I thought, "Am I really going to die? Like this?" I finally caught a breath, and spoke a barely audible, "Can't breathe." My brother got water, and offered the Heimlich.
I fell to my knees, and finally caught another breath, then another. Blood poured out of my nose, as my brother wiped my face. I reached the bathroom but was still unable to breathe normally.
I was a bit shaken. I spent the next ten minutes coughing up blood, and spitting it out. I just stood there, and let the water pour though my hands. I stuffed more tissue into my nose, walked out, and sat on my couch. I thanked my brother, and was tended to by one of my dogs (I scared away one while the other seemingly slept peacefully in my room).
After reassuring her (my dog) I was fine, I deeply thanked my brother again, and walked out. I went back to the bathroom to clean up, and couldn't help but grin at the idea of how I nearly killed myself with laughter.
In grade school, I never had a nickname, as "Chase" doesn't contract well, but was referred to as a "hyena" for my uncontrollable laughter. I just love to laugh. It's a weakness. I could very well laugh at anything, like this situation. My fondness for laughing is also why my car and laptop proudly wear a Ghost in the Shell Laughing Man emblem. In fact, it is why I adopted it as my symbol. It just fits.
All I know now is that I never want to die by drowning. Though the idea of being hurled into the sun for defiling Superman's woman intrigues me.
