I actually sorta acknowledge this day every year as the end of the golden age of my childhood. Seriously, after they brought down the playhouse, I became interested in other things. Like girls. No, actually, Riders in the Sky. But we won't tell anyone that.

You know, it makes me sad that Pee-wee has pretty much just become a joke with the cynical Mountain Dew/PlayStation/Adult Swim whatever the fuck generation. Which is ironic, considering he built his career on mocking 1950s television.

I guess because I was in high school when that happened, it wasn't as big of a blow to me, but I used to watch the show anyway. Poor Pee Wee.

Oh yes, I remember well. I was 11, but I was still kind of vague on what he had done. Eventually my parents, and an Arsenio Hall monologue joke filled in the blanks.
