Where the hell did this come from? I was doing my usual Sunday routine (sifting through ads and the paper) and I opened one of the ads up to find Twisted Metal Head-On on the Playstation 2! It comes out Tuesday: $19.99. This one might be my very last PS2 game. I also keep forgetting about the DS version of Kirby Superstar.

David Jaffe has been whoring it out, he even said that the game is littered with hints from his next project if you can piece them together.

I might get this, though I'd rather have the PSP version to be honest.

If I recall correctly there's going to be a port of Silent Hill Origins to PS2. Man, I'm glad half the games I wanted on PSP are coming out on PS2. Give me Irregular Hunter X or whatever it is and I'll be set.

Yup, they confirmed Origins. Remember Seaman 2? That was supposed to be a PS2 game. It had a controller prototype and everything. I wonder where that game disappeared to....

Fuck I may not even bother ever getting a PSP if they keep porting the good stuff to the PS2. I've been waiting for Seaman 2 for like eight years.

Yeah, I'm also glad I held out on a PSP. There's definitely a decent amount of nice games now, but with most of the ones I'm interested in getting ported to PS2 for a fraction of the price, why bother?

You know why I keep my PSP around? Four words. Portable Sega Genesis Classics.

That's one of the only reasons I've considered getting one. Still though, I don't really see the PSP being completely "portable", since the loading times can be a bitch and you pretty much have to carry it around in a handbag.

I hope this one is more like Twisted Metal 2. Black wasn't all that great.

I am pleasantly surprised by this. 4 and Black were pretty disappointing. Don't even get me started on Small Brawl.

I liked Black more than 3 and 4, it's just that the Black environments, aside from the snow one and maybe another, look the same. That, and it didn't feel as satisfying as 2.
I actually didn't expect another TM game. I figured 989 killed people's interest in the series after TM4. TM in HD with major car damage sounds like a winner.

Good Lord, the mini-documentary is worth the price alone. They're very honest about the games, with the general consensus being that 2 was the best, 3 and 4 were decent but bad Twisted Metal games, and Black was focused on environment more than tuning the gameplay.
The cut TM1 videos with real people acting were so unbelievably cheesy and low quality (in voice acting, story, and picture quality...so everything) that it actually makes them creepy. It's basically a frizzed out Calypso with a fucked up face making people drink potions and getting uzi's pulled out on him. It's really rough on the ears. Sweet Tooth should have been a chick in Twisted Metal 2 if they followed the cutscene from TM1.
Kinda freaked me out, frankly. It's so bad. The game itself plays pretty well. I love how they remodeled some past stages. Graphically it's sub-par even for PS2 but I've been playing Twisted Metal 2 so much over the years that it's harder to notice.
There's tons of cool game facts and behind-the-scenes stuff that makes it worthwhile. You run around as Sweet Tooth and get these facts, and so far one of them said that there was a horrific plane crash that killed 7 or so of the developers working on the next Twisted Metal game. It was going to connect everyone via some sort of street system. Anyhow there was a note left by the developers before the crash that was believed to be a sick joke or something. You get to read the letter after completing some mode. I can't remember much.

Even though internet nerds most likely sent it, it's pretty chilling. I don't even remember hearing about this plane crash.

And I watched all of the Twisted Metal 1 end movies by the way. I thought they were fucking hilarious, they should've used them.

DarkTooth kind of sucks, which surprised me. One cool thing about him is that instead of machine guns he has the TM2 Sweet Tooth special move.
