Oh fuck, I thought I missed the official announcement in the US for that. Both Japan and PAL are getting just a straight disc based ports of Super Mario All Stars with a neat little history book and a soundtrack.

It hasn't been announced yet. If PAL is getting it, I suspect we'll be getting it to. Nintendo's been pushing the 25th anniversary pretty hard. There are also Mario red Wii's and DS's being released.

It won't be Club Nintendo exclusive or something stupid like that will it?

Must have! I already own like 800 copies of the Super Mario Bros. games but I want that CD and booklet.

I already have pretty much all the Mario music from 1-World, but I don't care. I want it. And the book is apparently awesome. Apparently the game was originally a shooter and up was jump instead of it being a button press.

It'll be nice to have a console version of lost levels, I still play it on GBC from time to time on SMB DLX.

You can get the Lost Levels already on the Wii, it's Super Mario Bros. 2 on the Virtual Console, but it's the original Japanese version of the game and costs a buck more than a typical VC NES game.

I actually didn't know Super Players was on VC. It'll be nice having them all on one disc though. When I went with the Genesis back in 1992, I knew I was going to miss out on a lot of cool SNES games, and Mario All-Stars turned out to be one of them. It's nice to get a chance at owning a physical copy.

What's cool about the "Lost Levels" release on the VC is that it's the first time that actual legitimate version of Super Mario Bros. 2 has been released in the US.

Transcript of my phone call to GameStop:
Me: Are you guys taking preorders for Super Mario All Stars--
GameStop: Uhhhhh, I think that's out already.
Me: No, this is a re-release, it's a Wii game.
GameStop: Huh?
Me: Super Mario All Stars.
GameStop: Uh, hang on.
Me: *waits*
GameStop: *silence*
Me: *eats strawberries in bathtub*
GameStop: Uh Super Mario for the Wii is out already.
Me: No, Super Mario All Stars.
GameStop: What is that?
Me: It's a compilation of the NES Super Mario Brothers games with enhanced graphics and sound.
GameStop: *silence*
Me: *drives to the country club for a round of golf followed by margaritas with beautiful Swedish women*
GameStop: Uh I think so.
Me: Yeah?
GameStop: Yeah.

The mistake you made Alex, was asking Gamestop about a game that wasn't a FPS

Reminds me of when I went to GameStop to pick up EA MMA.
"I'd like to pick up a reserved game, please."
"Fallout?"
"No."
"Medal of Honor?"
"No."
"...?!"
