Zelda 1 doesn't get enough love. Everybody's all like, LTTP LTTP LTTP O AND OOT. But I think I prefer the original of all the 2D games. It's just more simplistic, and mysterious. Plus it was my first Zelda, and the first game I really got into. It was just so fucking deep, I'd stay up till like, 10 (which is pretty late when you're a kid) every night trying to find the next dungeon. The gold cartridge really made you feel like you owned something special. I still remember getting my cartridge, second hand at a shop in this indoor flea market. The shop was run by this old lady, and she actually made me get the game, as if it meant the fate of the world or something. I had never heard of Zelda before, and I actually didn't want it, despite the shiny gold cartridge. Being a kid I pretty much dismissed Zelda as a girl's game. The way I discovered the series was very Zelda-esque if you think about it. I actually bought a boomerang there not too long after getting Zelda. Now it's a Hobby Lobby.

The original game and LttP are in the second and third spots in my all time favorite games in that order. I think the original LoZ is probably in the top three most important games ever made, is was open world LONG before open world was a buzz word that apparently GTA created.

I actually find the original Zelda more difficult than the newer ones... its more of a puzzle game, as opposed to the action/adventure games we have now.

I prefer the dungeons in the original. There's just something about them, they're really approachable, yet complex. The combat in this game is more difficult than in later games, especially the 3D games because of the lock-on targeting. Fighting and exploring is more up to you in this one, and I like that. No one's there holding your hand.

My favorite is probably Link To The Past... I appreciate the simplistic nature of the original, but I like later games that had more of story to them. Plus I just loved the dark world...

My favorite changes every time I replay one of them... one day LttP will be my favorite, then OoT, then the original again, and Link's Awakening. It's hard to choose a favorite Zelda really. I think we all can agree that Wind Waker was incredibly lackluster.

Yeah, its the most forgettable of the series. I honestly don't even remember if I beat it.

It got better as it went along, and the best parts were easily the references to Ocarina of Time. Otherwise it was pretty forgettable.

I just wasn't digging the graphics. I may have if I was 8 when I played it... but I was 20+... it just didn't do it for me. The realistic graphics are the way to go in my mind.

The original Zelda is my favorite still. Followed by LTTP. OOT was good, but I find it overrated. Greatest commercial ever. youtube.com/watch?v=69_l1oZ2b2M&feature=relatedI remember talking my mom into buying it for me when we were at Sears. It may have honestly been the first game I ever pulled an all-nighter with.

I think we can all agree that the second one sucked the most though

I was cool with the cel-shading in Wind Waker, I just didn't like how wacky it was. Link's design was too... Powerpuff Girls for my taste. They should've followed the Zelda 1 art a little closer. And there were too many Looney Tunes kind of moments for a Zelda game.
I think they should bring cel-shading back for the next installment actually. If they could make something that looks like Zelda 1 instruction booklet art, or the Majora's Mask art, it would be amazing.
And yeah Zelda II wasn't exactly what we were all hoping for. But it was a nice diversion I guess.

Feh, i flat out hated Zelda II... What a shitload of fuck. I think thats why a lot of people cite Link to the Past as their favorite.... look at the shitheap it followed up. Links design was very queer in Wind Waker.
My favorite pretty much changes on my mood, but right now I'd have to say:
Link to the Past Ocarina Zelda Twilight Princess Majora's Mask
The rest aren't even worth mentioning.

Eh, the only thing I don't like about link in TP is that fucking blue zora suit... JUST MAKE THE REGULAR TUNIC BLUE. ITS THAT SIMPLE, I DONT NEED A SILLY MASK.
And I haven't played Gameboy, or any portable game system since I was about 10...

Minish Cap is probably one of the best portable games ever made, it feels so much like I'm playing a sequel to LTTP.
