I think I'm gonna have to buy a second DS, not because mine is going bad, I just don't want to risk this one going kapoot, having the DSi replace the Lite completely and having my R4 be worthless.
The R4 is an amazing piece of hardware. It's really simple, and some of the non-illegal stuff is great too. There are some nice homebrew apps, and an emulator for almost anything not CD based.

You may be asking yourself "J.J., the new Nintendo DSi came out today. You bought it, didn't you?" For your information that answer would be...... ....yes

Is it worth the money?

Bigger screens, free web browser, 1000 free points, better buttons. The d-pad is actually clicky as opposed to squishy. It's worth it if you're a major DS player.

Is it really worth getting right now if you already have the Lite? It's pretty much just a next gen Game Boy Camera with an SD slot isn't it?

It's a great upgrade, yeah, but I don't know if it's worth rushing out for. It's the little things that are better. I mean, it's nice to be able to listen to music on my DS, and the App Store is a nice idea, if not really worthless right now. But the little stuff make it better. You can hot swap carts. You can go back to the main menu without having to power down, the screens being bigger is nice. And the buttons are leaps and bounds better than the DSlite buttons, since I like have a d-pad and buttons that click when I push them.

I think I'm gonna wait for the true DS successor. Usually I am one of those people that immediately runs out and buys Nintendo's newest handheld, but besides DSware (which could actually be implemented into the DS Lite if they wanted to) nothing about the DSi is really screaming "upgrade!". It's quite possibly the most redundant redesign Nintendo has crapped out yet. I don't care that the thing plays music or browses the web or whatever... I just want a games machine, and I'm afraid Nintendo is forgetting this.

Actually, the DSware really couldn't happen on the Lite for the same reason you can't just have a web browser without buying a separate piece of hardware, the lite lacks the the RAM for more than simple online gaming. The DSi actually has increased RAM, that way you can surf the web and use web based utilities without having to use the RAM pack that came with the web browser.

They could release a separate piece of hardware for a decent price though, right? Unless we get a killer-app or two on the DS store, I just can't bring myself to care. But she's got a new hat!

Maybe if we get a new Soapbox I don't wanna. I'm sort of in the same boat as Alex, I want to see what the put on the DS store. Hopefully it's not just stuff like Balloon Fight and Game and Watch.

So...no one else is PSYCHED for the new GH comin' out this Tuesday? Granted, I don't know more than two of the songs on the tracklist, it's necessary to keep my GH collection goin'. Also, Johnny Bravo's Date-O-Rama was scheduled to be released this week, but I guess it was delayed...and no one bothered telling GameFAQs.

Phantom Hourglass is the worst Zelda game I have ever played. And I have played Faces of Evil, Wand of Gamelon, AND Zelda's Adventure.

If it didn't have all of the backtracking through the one dungeon with all of the puzzles then it would be much better.

I wanted to like that game. I really did. The series has been in a downward spiral ever since Oracle of Ages/Seasons, the last truly great Zelda games, imo.

Despite having a talking hat, Minish Cap was great And LoZ: PH has a surprisingly fun multiplayer game.

Just because I own every game, have a full size replica of the Master Sword, various t-shirts, hats, and jackets, the DVD set, a wallet, and contemplated getting the triforce as a tattoo, doesn't make me a fanboy.
PS-Minish Cap IS great. Despite you being a Negative Nancy.

Twilight Princess is better as a controller game than a Wii game.

Yes, you are a bad person, Haydn.
The series is a shell of its former self. It will never reclaim the magic of the original games. And it's not just nostalgia. The latter games just aren't as fun to me. It's lost that majestic, medieval fairy tale quality the series was founded on. Wind Waker was too Chuck Jones and Twilight Princess was borderline goth.

The problem is, you hate everything, including life and find joy in nothing but NyQuil watching Debbie Gibson in that new Burger King commercial.
