They're taking Sonic back to his roots! Just like they did with the last ten games in the series. Yes this will turn out good.

It must be discouraging for that guy to see people totally crapping on his teaser image for his unrelated game. I really, really, really hope it's in HD-2D style and not a 3D side-scroller. If this turns out good I hope the sales match.

Did you ever play Earthworm Jim 3D? I thought it was awesome at the time.

I'm starting to want to get excited about this game, but I've been emotionally abused by Sega so many times before.
In good Sega news, I played Sonic's UGC last night in high def, on a huge screen, turned on smoothing... and WOW, Sonic looked AMAZING. It was like playing those games for the first time. And I miss the original character design of Sonic, so much better than that... thing we've been seeing since Sonic Adventure.

I see it as a downgrade having Sonic as the only playable character. Apparently these people bitching about having more playable characters haven't played Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Tails and Knuckles are a-ok, I can do without Bill the Chipmunk-Toothed Platypus and Fred the Diaper Wearing Ferret.

If you look at the list though, Tails and Knuckles were never even listed. I wouldn't be surprised if they're in there, or if Sonic HD & Knuckles becomes an add-on at some point.

So is there any chance this sees a release on the Wii?

Probably not, but it wouldn't shock me to see it on the Wii eventually. It's going to suck anyway, they will find some way to fuck it up. Trust me.

Also, here is a Sega blog post: Even though he's completely and totally right, it's still sad to see Sonic relegated to being an also ran in his own franchise

And the problem with the Sonic franchise is that it's so convoluted. Everyone has their own idea of what it was, is, and should be. It's just had one too many incarnations. This goes back to the Japan vs. US marketing clusterfucks in the '90s with Mobius and Princess Sally and Dr. Robotnik and Dr. Eggman.

Eh. They've technically done it before. Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were really episodes one and two of each other. It's going to be a short game because Sonic games are short games. This way they can create a modern day "retail length" game and not make you feel like you've spent 60 dollars on a waste of time, instead, you'll probably be paying 60 dollars out over a span of months.
