Yeah, I'm really trying to avoid any kind of spoilers. I wish I didn't even know about the bee suit.

Yeah, I'm really trying to avoid any kind of spoilers. I wish I didn't even know about the bee suit. Same here actually. I could only imagine my feelings of getting a bee suit power up after all these years since Mario Bros. 3 wishing for the suits to be back in the Mario games.

I really, really, really hope they bring back the tanooki suit. In all honesty, I might shed a tear if that wish came true.

So I started thinking with my penis again and "accidently" ran across a MEGATON spoiler... and well, I'm not gonna say what it is, since this is a spoiler-free zone, but it's FUCKING AWESOME.
11 DAYS

Ignorance is bliss in this case. I keep skimming message boards and as soon as I see "RED COINS?" or something vague like that I X out instantaneously.

Here's my copypasta review of the "demo" of Galaxy.
I played Mario Galaxy at Gamestop!
I'll forget to say this so I'll just do it now. They had strategy guides already out (haven't heard about those yet). There's a standard that is $20 or so and a deluxe hardback one (think Twilight Princess) for $30 or so. The cover of that one has the Galaxy logo covered in eye catching sparkles. Both of those include a poster. I'm contemplating it.
Onto the game. Man, it was cool to finally see and play it. I just picked up Jericho's new book so naturally I made my girlfriend hold it while I played. There are a lot of cutscenes in this game...which totally caught me off guard. You can't fast-forward through them (I don't think so anyhow) or skip them. It took a long time to get to the central hub for this reason.
Starts out in Mushroom Kingdom in a much more extravagant manner. Everything looks gorgeous and the nighttime just enhances it all even more. So you're running around and if you're anything like I was, trying to get the hang of what buttons do what. I looked like a jackass when I kept trying to spin the Wii remote. You don't get to use the spin attack until a bit later on. The major nods to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Mario 64 are so awesome. The Princess does her little "HELP ME!" speech balloon and the orchestrated music is just like Mario 3's airship theme. The ships blow the hell out of the place and Bowser rips the castle out of the ground.
Onto the gameplay. Once you get going this game gets really good. Wii remote is used to collect far away objects and to shoot the stars at enemies to stun them. You have to collect rabbits for the first few little planets (sort of tedious to be honest) as they run all around (literally around) the planet. Get the star shards and form the star shooter, blast your ass onto the next planet. From there you just do what the cute star (yes, this game is full of various stars) tells you. You have to help a trapped star by finding a key hidden in one of the goombas and such. The spin attack fits like a glove (not the Power Glove for the love God) in terms of intuitiveness. It feels RIGHT, which I can't say for many Wii games to be totally frank. I didn't have enough gameplay time to truly master the controls or even get them down well, though.
I will say that by playing through the intro level and just starting out into the hub that I'm not sold on the controls yet. However, this is such a common complaint many people have said. I've read so many different concerns that eventually turn into, "THIS IS WHY THE WII WAS MADE!" only days later after 2 or 3 playthroughs. I'm not worried one bit because of this. It's just...different. Would it feel better with traditional control? I don't know yet. I will say that it definitely feels fine, at the very least. It's going to be a blast.

I really doubt there will be any problems finding Mario Galaxy. I was able to pick up a copy of Halo 3 two days after launch day, and it had some of the biggest launch numbers in history.
